Covid-19 Safety

Awesome Sports Lifelong Friends Never-Ending Fun!

USSC & CAS COVID-19 SAFETY PROCEDURES & REGULATIONS:

US Sports Camps (USSC) and Camp All Star (CAS) are committed to creating a safe and positive environment for all campers and staff. The information contained on this page is intended to inform our camper families about USSC’s safety policies relating to Covid-19.

In advance of our 2021 camp season, we are continuously monitoring CDC and WHO guidance to ensure our policies reflect all current safety standards related to group gatherings and youth sports. As safety guidelines change, our policies and procedures listed below may change accordingly. As camp approaches, our team will be in communication with camper families regarding any updates and additional details will be provided by camp staff during orientation.

The following measures are in place to ensure the safety of campers, staff, and camper families. All participants will be asked to comply throughout the duration of camps—and any staff member, camper or camper family member who does not comply will not be allowed at camp.

  • COVID-19 screenings and disclosure: USSC staff and camper parents/guardians must sign the USSC COVID-19 screening waiver before camp confirming the participant has not been sick or have reason to believe they have been exposed to COVID-19 within the 14 days prior to camp. All campers will be screened for symptoms and temperature each day. Day campers will be asked to self-screen for fever or symptoms in addition to the on-site check. If a camper or staff exhibits symptoms or contracts COVID-19 during the camp or 14 days after, they are responsible for notifying the Camp Director immediately so that appropriate measures can be taken. A full list of COVID-19 signs and symptoms can be found on the CDC website.
  • Adherence to government physical and social distancing/PPE guidelines: All camp locations will adhere to local and state guidelines on participant numbers, group sizes, face coverings and social distancing. USSC supports face coverings as a preventative measure and encourages all staff and campers to wear masks, even if not mandated. Staff and campers are required to provide their own masks.
  • Contactless check-in/check-out: Parents must maintain 6-feet social distancing requirements during check-in and check-out times and avoid congregating in groups before, during and after camp. Parents will verbally acknowledge the child's name for attendance purposes. During this time, parents will not be permitted to stay and observe camps, except in special circumstances and if proper PPE is used.
  • Personal sanitation: Staff and campers must frequently wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. When soap and water are unavailable, staff and campers will be required to use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. USSC will provide hand sanitizer as an extra precaution, but parents should provide campers with their own sanitizer which must not be shared with other participants.
  • Equipment sanitation: Campers’ personal equipment and belongings may not be shared and should be properly sanitized after every training session. Campers’ backpacks and other belongings shall be spaced at least 2 feet apart during camp. We will minimize the use of shared equipment where possible—and all equipment will be sanitized frequently during camp.
  • Limiting physical interaction: While we believe in the power of supporting teammates, high fives, fist bumps, hugs, and other camper-to-camper/ coach-to-camper contact will not be allowed unless training or competitive activity requires closer contact and are approved by camp staff following the state and local guidelines. Sharing of food or drink is strictly forbidden. Snack and lunch breaks will be taken in groups adhering to state and local guidelines for social distancing.

The following procedures apply specifically to overnight USSC camps and clinics and must be adhered to by all staff, campers, and camper families.

  • Overnight accommodations will be operating with limited capacity, based on state and local guidelines and facility policies.
  • Campers will not be permitted to swap rooms during camp.
  • Campers may be assigned to pods during their stay to minimize risks.

When should i keep my camper home?

Our attendees’ safety is paramount. In order to help ensure the well-being of our campers and staff, please follow the guidelines below as to when your child should stay home from camp. If any of these conditions are observed on-site, we will kindly request that you pick up your child and remove them from camp immediately. Campers who miss time at camp in order to comply with the following guidelines will be issued a pro-rated credit voucher.

  • Fever: Children must be fever-free (as defined by local guidelines) for at least 24 hours, without the aid of fever-reducing medication, before they come to camp. If our staff determines that a child has a fever, we will contact the child’s parent/guardian and ask that they pick the child up from camp. The child will be separated from the other children until the child is picked up by the parent/guardian.
  • COVID-19 Symptoms: Participants should stay home for the length of time determined by state/local guidelines if they have, or someone in their household has, any COVID-19 symptoms including:
    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Sore throat
    • Chills
    • Body aches
    • Fatigue
    • Headache
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Eye drainage or infection
  • Pending Test Results: If your child or someone in their household is awaiting COVID-19 test results, your child will need to wait to attend camp until negative test results are confirmed.
  • Exposure: If your child has been exposed to anyone in the past 24 hours who was experiencing any of the above symptoms, or who has experienced any of the above symptoms since being in contact with them, tested positive for COVID-19, or presume to be COVID-19 positive based on a health care provider's assessment or symptoms they should also stay home for the amount of time recommended by the state's Health Department and seek medical treatment.
  • Contagious illness/parasitic infection: If your child has a contagious illness, even without fever, beyond a mild cold (i.e. pink eye, a contagious skin rash), or if your child has head lice/nits, please do not send your child to camp until the illness/parasitic infection has been resolved. If your child shows signs of a contagious illness or head lice/nits, we will ask that the child be picked up from camp. You may send your child to camp with a doctor’s note if their condition has been treated and is no longer contagious.
  • Diarrhea/vomiting: If your child has experienced diarrhea or vomiting within 24 hours before camp, please do not send them to camp. If your child gets ill at camp, we will contact the child’s parent/guardian and ask that they pick the child up from camp.

If a camper consistently does not respect and adhere to their camp’s safety protocols and social distancing guidelines, they will be removed from camp with no refunds provided.

What procedures will be followed if a staff or camper reports a positive COVID-19 test or is symptomatic?

*Scenario procedures may vary depending on local, state, and CDC guidelines.

  • Our COVID-19 precautions are in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission at camp, but we cannot guarantee zero risk. If any cases are discovered during or within 14 days after camp, we will relay that information to camper families, staff, partner organizations, and local health department officials so the appropriate steps can be taken by all impacted parties.
  • In the event of a confirmed COVID-19 case (of a camper or staff member) during camp, the director will immediately notify local health officials, staff members, camper families, partnering organizations, and USSC Headquarters. Health officials will help determine a course of action for the program. This may include temporarily closing the site where exposure occurred. In the event of a closure, all registered campers will receive a prorated voucher to their account for time missed
  • If USSC becomes aware that a staff member or participant has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of completion of a camp, staff members, campers, partnering organizations, and the local health department will be notified.
  • If a USSC staff member reports symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath), they will be placed on temporary leave until a negative COVID-19 test result is confirmed and at least 24 hours have passed since recovery (defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms), or until at least 14 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
  • If a camper reports symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath) during camp, they will be quarantined until their parent/guardian arrives and removed from the camp. All camper families will be notified the same day. The affected child will not be able to return to a USSC program until a negative COVID-19 test result is confirmed and at least 24 hours have passed since their last fever or signs of respiratory symptoms. The child may be allowed back to the program as soon as the next day if a doctor’s note is provided that states the condition was not related to COVID-19.

We are here to help make the camp experience safe and enjoyable. Parents are welcome to reach out with any questions. While we strive to provide the best answers possible, USSC Directors and staff are not authorized or qualified to provide medical or legal advice specific to a camper’s symptoms or circumstances. If parents have any doubt whether their child should participate in camp, we ask that they err on the side of caution and keep them home. USSC will provide you with a prorated voucher for any missed days of camp.

US Sports Camps and Camp All Star will follow COVID-19 social distancing and safety guidelines as set by the CDC and local government authorities. While we are taking every possible precaution, we cannot guarantee against exposure during camps. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.
