The first step to curling your shot is making sure your approach is correct. Start at a slight angle and usually you won’t want your shoulders to be square to the goal. Approach the ball like you’re going to hit the ball with the inside of your foot.
When you strike the ball, plant your foot securely, keep your arm out for balance, and hit the ball with the inside of your foot.
When your foot hits the ball, let the ball roll back along the inside of your foot. You should hit the lower part of the ball when you’re trying to curl the ball (so if you’re shooting with your right foot, the lower right side of the ball).
After you strike the ball, follow through by swinging your leg across your body and towards the goal. If you want to lift the ball, strike more underneath the ball and lean forwards if you want the ball to dip.
Follow these tips to learn how to curl the ball and remember, the only way you’ll improve your skills is through practice and repetition.
